Futuristic Parliamentary Building

VISUAL 1.jpg

This is a sample of my Masters major study project. Set in 2050 it was a speculative project where I constructed an alternative future in which experts overthrew the government in 2024. The new expert (technocratic) government implemented a new law that public land and property no longer exists. They also set up ‘Civitas Summits’ which are the new style parliamentary and community buildings across the centres of the new ring system in localist communities.

The building I chose to modify into a ‘Civitas Summit’ was Nottingham Castle as it is a building of provenance and importance which is highly visible to the Nottingham City Centre Community. The ‘Civitas Summits’ uphold the new technocratic values which are: localism, education, contribution and stewardship. The surrounding city centre community have continuous open access to these Summits but they also have to attend mandatory events here.

The future community will have to go on a lawful journey through the building which enables them to engage or observe the experts and this new form of government. This will strengthen the sense of community whose goal it is to retain ethical governance. This journey will ensure transparency between experts and community as well as the dissemination of knowledge and sciences.
